Merry Christmas Everyone!
I hope everyone had a great holiday, ate WAY to much, and maybe drank a bit to much at least once.
Winter here, is much different than what I am used too. That much is for sure. In the two months of winter that I have experienced so far, I think I am going to like winters here. At first in November, I was worried that it was just the calm before the storm. It was warm on a regular basis, maybe -10, and usually warm enough that walking around in a hoodie was enough to handle the cold. In December it started to get a little colder, some days it dipped down to about -20, and chilled off. Winds from the Atlantic are different from the winds from the mountains that I am used too. Dry winds, like in Alberta, are cold granted. But when the wind hits you here, its wet. The air when its raining is heavy, and drenches you. In some ways, the winter is better, sometimes not so much lol.
A few days before Christmas, I went out to get groceries and it was a mess. Heavy wind, and rain. It had snowed the night before, so It was slushy everywhere. Roads were a mess and it was brutal. That night, it continues to rain, and then it freezes. It was bad because it was cold enough to freeze the rain, but warm enough for it not to snow. That night, I went for a walk and everything was covered in ice. Everything that got wet froze. That night it wasn’t too bad. After getting home I didn’t leave for a day or two. I started hearing reports of the roads and stuff and there was accidents everywhere. Many neighborhoods were out of power, and from what I have heard from listening to people, some places still are.
I’m not sure why, but my house was fortunate. I have had power and heat throughout the storm which is awesome. We’ve gotten about maybe 8 inches of heavy snow so far, most of which has melted already.
But ya, thats more or less what has been up lately. Pretty quiet for a while before heading home for my late Christmas in January. Back to work tomorrow 🙂 Fun… o.0
